We first see Edward after his epic victory at the Battle of Towton. He is now the self-proclaimed ruler of England and is desperate to stamp his authority on the land. He serves his list of attainder on all those that fought for the Lancastrian cause, whether they are alive or dead, and we see him engage Eldroth the assassin to hunt down the son and heir of his arch rival John Clifford. So great was the enmity between the Yorkists and Lancastrians – John Clifford’s father being killed at the first battle of St. Albans and John Clifford killing Edward’s father and brother at Wakefield – that I firmly believe Edward would have taken revenge on Clifford’s seven year old son. He is desperate to find young Henry Clifford and will stop at nothing to gain revenge.
