We first see Henry as a seven year old boy, orphaned after his father’s grisly death at the Battle of Ferrybridge, and hunted down by the Yorkists who literally want to exterminate the Clifford family line. Rescued and brought up by the woman that wet-nursed him as an infant and her husband, a Shepherd, they raise him as their own son and re-name him Moses Lawkland. Quiet and taciturn at first, he soon blossoms into a happy Shepherd Boy, extremely accomplished at his job and content with his lot. As he reaches maturity however, we see the bonds and blood of his ancestral roots pull at him and he is catapulted into mainstream affairs and politics after he is restored to his birthright.
